It has been a busy few weeks for the Aldborough Roman Town team. We have given talks at CA Live at the Senate House in London (https://www.archaeology.co.uk/articles/features/current-archaeology-live-2017.htm) and also for the Architectural and Archaeological Society of Durham and Northumberland (http://www.aasdn.org.uk/lectures.htm).We are also busy writing up the excavations from 2016, and the huge geophysical survey (2009-2015).
But in the coming weeks we will be out on site to survey the Roman quarry. We are interested in the form of the landscape and how the stone faces have been worked. We will be working with Dominic Powlesland of the Landscape Research Centre, to create a 3D model of the quarry face. Let’s hope the weather holds for us!
